The sequence, primarily based on Bernard Cornwell’s Warlord Chronicles, is dropping onto ITVX in two elements.
ITV’s epic new Arthurian adaptation, The Winter King, is being lined up for a festive streaming launch.
Taking a leaf out of the Netflix playbook, the 10-part sequence will land on streamer ITVX in two chunks: episodes 1 – 5 seem on 21st December, 2023, with episodes 6 – 10 launched on December 27th.
The sequence, drawn from the Warlord Chronicles novels of Bernard Cornwall, stars Iain De Caestecker (Marvel’s Brokers of S.H.I.E.L.D.) and Eddie Marsan (Ray Donovan). Set within the fifth century, amid a brutal land of warring factions and tribes, it follows Arthur Pendragon’s evolution from an outcast to a legendary warrior.

Iain De Caestecker performs Arthur Pendragon, whereas Eddie Marsan is Excessive King Uther and Nathaniel Martello-White performs Merlin. The present additionally stars Ellie James as Nimue, Stuart Campbell as Derfel, Daniel Ings as Owain, Valene Kane as Morgan, Jordan Alexandra as Guinevere and Simon Merrells as Gundleus.
